About Curry O’Clock
Shehana (or She, for short) was born and raised in Sri Lanka and has lived in the Netherlands for 12 years. A marketer by profession, she founded Curry O’Clock in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic to share the flavours and traditions of her homeland. Now, she works full-time teaching Sri Lankan cooking, hosting pop-up dinners, and importing spices and unique products, such as kithul syrup and gluten-free flours. She travels regularly to Sri Lanka to research authentic recipes, which she shares through workshops, events, and her food blog.
Sri Lankan food is diverse, coconut-rich, spicy, and deeply rooted in Ayurveda, a tradition that views food as a form of nourishment. With strong Buddhist traditions, Sri Lankan cuisine naturally features a wealth of vegetarian dishes and fresh, wholesome ingredients.
